For The Heart

I used to live in the darkness
At times, I miss the night
Shift, my mind from left to right
Fully, in the sun
Burn, like heat
Waves, across the white sand of my love
Aches, and pains, and yearnings
For the heart, it is confused

Portrait of Words

Most lovely Erato, has my feeble wish been heard?
Bestowed not gifts of oil on canvas,
Lying weary in the shade of thoughts,
I dare to paint a portrait with the strokes and curves of word.

To chisel through black marble hearts of men,
With golden ink and feathered pen.
Therein lies the faint memory of vanilla robes, roses and myrtle in her hair.
The soft iron hammer breaks free this goddess of love.
Her honeyed voice pours over my tablet of despair.

Heavy eyes are played to sleep,
Misty echoes of the lyre fill my dream.
Awake beside me she sings of distances,
Beyond the vault of stars above and springs beneath the stream.

Fine shades of beauty,
Hues of desire, revelation and hope.
I sculpt and sand the image of a sweet and gentle exalt,
Unbound by the tightening grip of chastising rope.

Roused from visionary escape,
Swept away with the light of morn,
Solitaire and fortuitous I stand,
From answered prayers, what magnificence may be borne!

Novel's End

Finally, a close to this chapter,
I took too long to read.
Your insinuations interwoven,
Where there is no want, there is no need.

I highlighted the lighthearted moments,
Bookmarked my favorite days,
Tore out the blank pages,
Dog-eared your wicked ways.

My eyes, a ship moving cautiously, across your reefed words.
Winds and storms, passing without warn.
At the mercy of your currents,
My eyelids heavy, my mainsail becalmed and torn.

Merely machinations of my imagination.
Disillusioned by my illusions.
Was I the sky or the ocean floor?
Broken masts, damaged hull,
I run aground,
Only to wash up on your shore.

I plot a steady course away from you,
Once a bright and shining star.
My Polaris, sinking in the night,
The Southern Seas before me,
Finally, a close to this chapter,
A torrent reminder, of who you really are.

Bowing to Bullets

Eyes to the ceiling,
Lips to the floor.
Bow to the bullets,
That pierce through your door.

Blood stains and violence.
No escape for the poor.
Nightmares slip into day,
Like sharks swimming ashore.

Resolutions, revolutions, relentlessly spinning around,
The vertigo forces your forehead to the ground.
Explosions of fury, but you can't hear a sound.
Flesh alone could never be taken by the pound.

They are watching, uploading, clicking, donating.
Rocks in the face of the enemies they are facing.
Dying of bigotry, possession of power, the thieving.
The world is on broken knees, hoping, shouting, begging for healing.

Eyes to the ceiling,
Lips to the floor.
We are all bowing to bullets,
That pierce through your door.

You go girl!

Sometimes in life you just have to hold your boobs and run!

The Meditation

Witness in silence,
This,
Great and Powerful man.
Beautiful, Strong.
Brave and Mighty stance.

An Aurora Borealis,
Burns inside,
His translucent chrysalis.
He slips into a trance.

Silver ropes,
Appear in either hand,
As the spheres,
Of this World and the Worlds Beyond,
Align.

One from the Heavens,
The Umbilical Cord,
Of the Divine.

With the left,
His muscles taut,
He prays pages,
From the Book of Life.

Right fist, clenched,
He uproots Her arteries.
Mountains split in half.
Ouranos weeps.
Each foot a continent,
Great Powers crushed beneath,
The soles.

Earthquakes reverberate,
Frayed ends bursting.
Resplendent.
Head leaning back,
Trapezius curved,
Like the Horizon of the Earth.

The roars of strength,
Soar into the ether,
Hurtle past,
Venus, Mercury and Mars,
Like a meteor shower,
Of shooting stars.

Rapid,
Shattering,
Rush.

Trembling,
His knees bend to the force.

Frightful blaze,
The re-connection,
Made.

Explosion,
Pure white light.
The magnificence,
Fills the atmosphere,
So bright.

Like the Crystal Child,
Of the Universe,
The invocation of Spirits,
Pure.

They bow in unison,
Eyes open the door,
To descendants,
Present, future,
Ancestors, past.

Facing the One,
The Source.
The First.
The All.
The Forever.
The Last.

Thoughts on Creativity

The scariest part of any true art form, is diving into your pain, and staying long enough to learn the truth about it.

The Lakes of Shangri-La

I want to pour my passion,
In the lakes of Shangri-La,
And bathe your resting feet.

Hold them gently in my hands,
Where the land and water meet.

Speak to you softly,
Of all the places,
This weary heart has been.

My streams of compassion,
Reach for you,
The way salty tears
From cyan blue eyes,
Unite upon the chin.

I soak my heart in pain,
That I might fill it with your sweet.
Kiss your lashes,
With Jasmine lips,
Caress your sun-burnt cheeks.

Lay your head,
In my lap of devotion,
As my fingers,
Comb through your hair.

Swim into,
And through,
My love,
And I will meet you there.

Powdered Sugar

Smooth to the touch
My skin slips over yours
This was meant to be
Felt
Whispers in the dark
Cloudy and sweet
Powdered sugar
Sifting into my dreams
When nothing else does
This place exists
Like nothing else does

Thoughts on relationships

It may be best for us to accept, that sometimes the only thing we have left in common with others, is our past.

At the separation of interests, disparity in thought, and diversion of philosophies; metaphysical, moral or natural, it is the hope that we may someday meet again, which allows us to move on.

Cave of Diamonds

Playing tricks again,
Hermes?
Didn't you learn?
Like the Raven,
You stole things,
You did not earn.

Scintillating Gems,
They glisten in the Sun.
For that is what they do,
When the layers are deep,
And the quality true.

Honesty,
Virtue,
Character and Style.
They can teach you these things,
If you stay for a while.

There is a reason these jewels,
Shine so bright.
They were designed,
By the Divine,
To return the Light.

All facets of their being,
Bend and reflect,
The beauty from within,
So worthy of respect.

Cheating Apollo,
A decision, unwise.
The shame you now bear,
Outweighs your prize.

You cannot cut through
Not a scratch, nor a dent.
They resist the inferior,
And survive by their strength.

What made you think,
You would leave unscathed?
Limestone,
Without integrity,
In a Diamond-filled cave.

You Bring Heaven to Earth

You bring Heaven to Earth.
My Spirit,
Dances at the sight.

For a moment,
I can feel,
And I remember as a child,

The first time I knew,
The things I heard were true.

Press your hand onto the light,
They said,
And you yourself will know.

There it was,
Beneath my skin,
I saw,
The hemoglobin glow.

It was there all the while,
But these are the things,
We do not take time,
To see.

Like the intricate veins,
My eyes now trace,
On the healing leaves,
Of the Banyan Tree.

I breathe in Life
Before the Morning Star,
And thank it,
For becoming mine.

This is the place,
I want to be.
I want to take my mind.

Where Angels dwell,
In the ripples of light rain,
On shallow pools,
Heavyhearted clouds have made.

In the little sparks of light,
Reflecting,
On the surface of my soul.

Grasping for truth,
Love gently took my hand,
And made me whole.

My cello heart,
Makes music now.
And I sing for all to hear.

Every song,
A symphony.
An orchestra,
Of prayer.

Your pain is gone, your life is new

Healing light
Rest on her temple,
A rush of wind
Across the plain,
Of hair, scented
Feverfew air,
Sweet and gentle,
Descends upon her pain.
It lifts,
To the pale blue sky,
Like morning mist,
Drifting high,
Rising from valleys,
Of White Willow trees,
To meet the clouds,
Like starlings taking flight.
Tiny petals,
Rest on her eye lids,
Restore her strength of sight.
The little flowers bloom,
Upon her crown,
Like wide open fields,
Stretch into the distance,
Reaching for the sound,
Of Angels singing.
Their voices travel through her mind,
Tight coils around her vessels,
Once griping, now unbound.
The violent pulse, subsides,
Like ocean waves,
Across the shores of time.
Listen to the hymns
Of rejuvenation.
Every harmony for you.
Ache no more, loved one.
Your pain is gone, your life is new.

Heart of the Scorpion

Step lightly, Love,
This is the place, where sacred grass grows.

Knowledge is food.
Wisdom, your clothes.

The diamond-cut flesh, in the palms of your hands,
Now align with the stars, like deep prints in the snow.

Onward, my dear, from where Strangler Figs dwell,
Or their roots will take hold,
Cast you under their spell.

Ever-shifting skies, seasons fold and unfold.
Keep your eyes affixed,
To the Archer's pose.

He will lead you to the Hero,
The King of this world.

Strange sights and sounds,
Purple Willow trees sway,
Caressing your body,
As they show you the way.

A bright red glow,
Washes the length,
 Of your faint blue hair.
Heart of the Scorpion,
Your companion draws near.

Ocean Souls

When you cry beneath the Ocean
They cannot see your tears
Bodies fold in close
Anguish flows
Like lava
Forming islands of despair

Follow the currents
They will lead you
Home
They destroyed it long ago
You keep coming back
To die another death

They cage you
Shoot spears through you
Trap you
In their nets
Of greed and waste
Your Blood is the salt
Your Spirit is the wave

Uprush
In defiance and rage
I lean into you
Seaweed braids itself into my hair
I move with the Spring Tide
Each Backrush pulls me further in
Pouring secrets in my ear

I am listening.

Avocado

I push my thumb into your leathery skin
Ripe, I slice, I peel
Bright yellow, bright green
Cool and soft
I don't taste much
But that matters not
It is how I feel
When I swallow you
And you fill me up
Salt and pepper or plain
Your mother bears fruit again and again
And I am thankful for you
For keeping me young
You feed my eyes
My heart
My hair
My brain
Bright yellow, bright green
Ripe, I slice, I peel
I push my thumb into your leathery skin

Just A Dream

It was just a dream
The wind that carried me
Through the mist
From darkness into light

It was just a dream
The burning sensation on my arm
When I tried to open my eyes
And lost my sight

It was just a dream
When you beckoned me
To the water's edge
Mermaid Queen

It was just a dream
When I swam down that staircase
Searching for truth
That remained unseen

It was just a dream
Jumping from tree tops to clouds
My electric blue meridians
Strong and luminescent in flight

It was just a dream
And I will dream again
And I will be alive again
When we meet tonight

Paraiba Tourmaline

The chill
Of dew-filled air

Draw in the morning
The world is still

Still searching
Dirt beneath broken nails

Soft earth and jagged stones
Delve deeper, you whisper

Time has already left me
Behind your glittering eyes

A constellation
So brilliant, I went blind

So rare, so magnificent
I was driven mad

Paraiba Tourmaline
Buried in my mind.

Alive Inside

Ignite me from within
Your pink lightening strikes
Each vessel
Pulsating
Blood rushes to my skin

Every breath I take
I take
Only to let you in

My vibrations carry you
On a wave
Of body aching bliss

Slide your hands across
The face of my broken walls
Soothe them, heal them
Seal them with your kiss

My heart keeps you
Alive inside

Wednesday 3 July 2013

Laura

You cast your heart into the desert
Blistered hands and burning feet
Though you ache, you are not aching
You are a daughter of this heat

Skies fade and you sit waiting

Evergreen like the Joshua Tree
At first light, you dig your heels in
You rest only on one knee

Your strength twisted and braided

Into every fiber of your rope
You quench your thirst with internal springs
Of everlasting hope

Every disappointment, every loss

Sinks beneath your skin
You do not realize, you are healing
Your love forms Pearls deep within

Artisan, it is time

Look around, your land has grown
Oh Queen of our Kingdom!
Take your place upon the Throne!

Tuesday 2 July 2013

Genevieve

Can we sit and talk a while
You don't mind, behind that smile
I like to use your favourite mug

It's my favourite too
Because it feels like you
It's safe, and warm and sweet

In this room, on this chair
You were always there, and you're here
My tea tastes better, now.

When I'm 6, When I'm 9
When I'm 17 and 25
Can I call you on the phone?

Your apparitions have been mine
Inseparable by time
Your memory courses through my veins.

Can we sit and talk a while
You don't mind, behind that smile...

Bedtime Prayer

Lord if you can hear me now
I have but one request
It’s that you send an angel
To help me get some rest

I’ve tried so hard you see
But I can’t seem to sleep
And even when I do
It doesn’t go too deep

Let your angel quiet my heart
And gently close my eyes
Let its presence fill the air
With heavenly lullabies

I know that you are listening Lord
My angel of dreams will soon be here
Let her tuck me in, and kiss me farewell
Until a new day comes my way

One last thing dear God
Right before I go
I love you and I thank you
For everything you do

Amen

How I Wondered

impatience made me wonder
why everything took so long

anger made me wonder
why everyone else was always wrong

envy made me wonder
why so little was left for me

until i decided to believe
that there was another way to be

understanding in life is vital
forgiveness and wisdom is learned

to live a life filled with love requires sacrifice
peace of mind is something earned

self-destruction made me realize
some things are meant to be

pain may be an inevitable part of life
but happiness my friend, is free

Magdalena

Dancing shadows and drifting clouds
Float slowly into sight
The silent ocean beckons me
The winds dare me to take flight

The crash and slide
The rush and calm
The purple skies
The rustling palms

Tender thoughts and hidden fears
Sorrows not yet known
Quiet love and restless pain
How high the tides have grown

Across the sandy shores
My perfect prints erased
Each step re-lives the moments lost
As waves wash over my embrace

How Sweet The Caged Bird Sings

I walked along a broken path
And crossed a crooked street

I stopped to smell a wilting rose
Its scent was still as sweet

I watched a yellow butterfly
Float by with damaged wings

I stopped and listened to my world
How sweet the caged bird sings....

Let your light shine!

They are full of light, not because the sun is always shining on them, but because they chase the sun!

Weary Traveller

Night falls before you find your way
You can't decide, to go or stay?
Where to turn, which road to take?
Fear clouds the choice you have to make.

There's no denial, the truth you know
You crossed his path not long ago
He warned you of the challenge ahead
Showed you signs, you should have read

But it's a tale been told
Since times of old
With each barrel of stone
Comes a grain of gold

There's work you see
That you must do
To discover all things
That are right for you

But the light of morn will soon be here
So rest your eyes a while my dear
When you wake you'll find, you were already home
And throughout your journey, you were never alone.

Visions of You

Sometimes you have a vision of people in your mind. You see some good in them and can imagine them being more than they are, greater in some way, than the careless, average self they give to the world. But then you realize, it's not real, not yet. It is simply the potential for greatness. That vision may be attainable, but the journey ahead, leading to it, is not yours... it's theirs. No matter how wonderful, it's not necessarily the vision they have of themselves either. So try to love people for who they are, and if you can't do that, maybe it's time to move on with your own journey.

The Tower

Higher everyday climbed
The tower around my heart
Thinking if I kept it all in
This life would never fall apart

But I made the mistake
Of reaching the top
Building and building
Not once did I stop

Slowly over time
The light was shut out from the sky
My fountain of strength
Had suddenly run dry

At first being on my own
Was the best place to be
Nothing to justify
Independent and free

But then the darkness grew cold
And the loneliness set it
The need for someone else
Cried out from within

So mighty it seemed
Unbending in winds of rage
But drop by drop engulfed in tears
The flood released me from my cage

The collapse of my greatest wall
And yet I felt no despair
For through my friends and through it all
God’s love was always there

The weight of our burdens
By which we all seem bound
Will be broken and lifted
The day all our towers
Have fallen to the ground

Hand in Hand

The Sun and Moon
Forever will be friends
They surround the earth
On each other they depend

Hand in Hand
They laugh and they prance
They light up the world
They sing and they dance

One makes the other’s day
The other makes one’s night
One hides and one seeks
The stars so bright

Hand in Hand
They will always love
They will always be
In the heavens up above
